Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Component-Based Mixed-Criticality Real-Time Scheduling on a Single Processor System

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper focuses on a two-level hierarchical system with dual-criticality components scheduled on a single processor. To address the independent scheduling of mixed-criticality (MC) components using fixed-priority (FP) servers, we introduce the mixed ...

Extending Mixed Criticality Scheduling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The capability of hardware is constantly developing in capacity, speed and efficiency. This development has sparked industrial and academic interest in how best to utilise the increased capability. It is now possible to integrate many systems that in the

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Deadline-Aware Scheduling of Mixed-Criticality Tasks

open access: yesProceedings of the 54th International Conference on Parallel Processing
High-performance computing centers and cloud providers host a wide variety of workloads, ranging from routine calibration tasks with no strict timing requirements to urgent real-time computations that must be completed within hard deadlines. Traditional approaches reserve resources for high-criticality tasks or preempt and kill lower-criticality tasks ...

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Dynamic QoE/QoS-Aware Queuing for Heterogeneous Traffic in Smart Home

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Smart home gateways have to forward multi-sourced network traffic generated with different distributions and with different quality-of-service (QoS) requirements.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Energy-Efficient Mixed-Criticality Multicore Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access
Balancing energy efficiency with stringent timing guarantees in real-time mixed-criticality systems (MCS) is a key challenge, especially in multicore architectures.
