In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Reconfigurable Mixed Mode Universal Filter

open access: yesActive and Passive Electronic Components, 2014
This paper presents a novel mixed mode universal filter configuration capable of working in voltage and transimpedance mode. The proposed single filter configuration can be reconfigured digitally to realize all the five second order filter functions ...

C1− Continuous crack propagation for mixed-mode fracture problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this work a C1− continuous crack propagation algorithm is proposed to improve the numerical simulation of localized deformation patterns, using higher order elements.

Weakly coupled two slow- two fast systems, folded node and mixed mode oscillationsM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We study Mixed Mode Oscillations (MMOs) in systems of two weakly coupled slow/fast oscillators. We focus on the existence and properties of a folded singularity called FSN II that allows the emergence of MMOs in the presence of a suitable global return ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Measuring and testing the interview mode effect in mixed mode surveys

open access: yesStatistica, 2014
Many studies are showing an increased tendency to use more than one data collection mode for a particular survey. However, mixed data collection modes may influence responses given by interviewees and require researchers to verify if differences in ...

Mixed-Mode Pandemic Modeling [PDF]

open access: yes2019 Winter Simulation Conference (WSC), 2019
This paper describes a mixed mode approach to simulating a global pandemic. It describes the architectural and design decisions as well as the data sources, development tools and processes in each of the three simulation domains - System Dynamics (SD), Discrete Event Simulation (DES) and Agent-Based Modeling (ABM). The encompassing model uses a network

Shilnikov Homoclinic Bifurcation of Mixed-Mode Oscillations

open access: yes, 2015
The Koper model is a three-dimensional vector field that was developed to study complex electrochemical oscillations arising in a diffusion process.

Lifetime evaluation of concrete structures under sustained post-peak loading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Experimental tests on crack propagation in concrete under constant post-peak loading are simulated using the finite element method and the cohesive crack model, in both Mode I and Mixed-mode conditions.
