Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

A Second-Order Boundary Value Problem with Nonlinear and Mixed Boundary Conditions: Existence, Uniqueness, and Approximation

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2010
A second-order boundary value problem with nonlinear and mixed two-point boundary conditions is considered, Lx=f(t,x,x′), t∈(a,b), g(x(a),x(b),x′(a),x′(b))=0, x(b)=x(a) in which L is a formally self-adjoint second-order differential operator.

Conformal solids and holography

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
We argue that a SO(d) magnetic monopole in an asymptotically AdS space-time is dual to a d-dimensional strongly coupled system in a solid state. In light of this, it would be remiss of us not to dub such a field configuration solidon.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

ELEMENTARY CONVECTION CELL IN THE HORIZONTAL LAYER OF VISCOUS INCOMPRESSIBLE LIQUID WITH RIGID AND MIXED BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics, 2015
The result of experimental study of convection cells formation of vacuum oil with mixed boundary conditions is presented. The adding small amounts of dispersed phase (aluminum powder) the viscosity and density of the oil didn’t change and under such ...

A rigorous formulation of drain boundary conditions for groundwater flow modeling in geotechnical engineering

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering
Drains play an important role in seepage control in geotechnical engineering. The enormous number and one-dimensional (1D) geometry of drainage holes make their nature difficult to be accurately modeled in groundwater flow simulation.

Nonlinear eigenvalue problems with mixed boundary conditions

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1974
AbstractSome of the properties of the upper bound of the spectrum of a quasilinear eigenvalue problem, subject to a positivity requirement, are derived. It is shown that, as a function of the surface heat-transfer coefficient, this parameter is a continuous, monotonic increasing function and is bounded above.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
