Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

A Mixed-Methods Study of the Effect of Using Situation Comedies on Iranian EFL Learners’ Critical Reasoning and Action [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Language Horizons
This mixed-methods study, adopting a sequential explanatory design, aimed to (a) investigate the effect of situation comedies (sitcoms) on Iranian EFL learners’ critical reasoning as well as action and (b) explore learners’ attitudes about the way ...

Chaos at the border of criticality

open access: yes, 2008
The present paper points out to a novel scenario for formation of chaotic attractors in a class of models of excitable cell membranes near an Andronov-Hopf bifurcation (AHB).

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Development Cost Optimization for Multi-Functional Mixed-Criticality Embedded Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In some industrial embedded systems, functions with different safety integrity levels (SILs) are integrated into the same hardware platform to share resources, and usually, the schedulability of applications should be met first.

GSN Support of Mixed-Criticality Systems Certification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Safety-critical applications could benefit from the standardisation, cost reduction and cross-domain suitability of current heterogeneous computing platforms. They are of particular interest for Mixed-Criticality Product Lines (MCPL) where safety- and non-safety functions can be deployed on a single embedded device using suitable isolation artefacts ...

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Modeling Mixed-critical Systems in Real-time BIP

open access: yes, 2013
International audienceThe proliferation of multi- and manycores creates an important design problem: the design and verification for mixed-criticality constraints in timing and safety, taking into account the resource sharing and hardware faults.
