Development Cost Optimization for Multi-Functional Mixed-Criticality Embedded Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In some industrial embedded systems, functions with different safety integrity levels (SILs) are integrated into the same hardware platform to share resources, and usually, the schedulability of applications should be met first.

Implications of Non-Uniform Deadline Scaling to Quality of Service Under Single Errors

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Fault-tolerant real-time systems for emerging critical applications like wearable electronic healthcare monitors, consumer-grade unmanned aerial vehicles, or environmental monitoring have to tolerate errors during operation.

RTOS Support for Multicore Mixed-Criticality Systems [PDF]

open access: yes2012 IEEE 18th Real Time and Embedded Technology and Applications Symposium, 2012
Mixed-criticality scheduling algorithms, which attempt to reclaim system capacity lost to worst-case execution time pessimism, seem to hold great promise for multi core real-time systems, where such loss is particularly severe. However, the unique nature of these algorithms gives rise to a number of major challenges for the would-be implementer.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Mixed-Criticality Systems with Partial Lockdown and Cache Reclamation Upon Mode Change [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
29th Euromicro Conference on Real-Time Systems (ECRTS 2017), WiP. Dubrovnik, Croatia. In mixed-criticality multicore systems, the appropriate degree of isolation between applications of different criticalities is a primary objective.

Scalable Mixed-Criticality Safety Concepts for a Stationary Battery Management System (BMS) With Integrated Machine Learning (ML)

open access: yesIEEE Access
Battery management systems (BMSs) play a crucial role in controlling and supervising the safe operation of lithium-ion batteries in stationary energy storage systems. The integration of mixed-criticality functions (combining safety functions of different

Semi-Slack Scheduling Arbitrary Activation Patterns in Mixed-Criticality Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
This paper proposes a semi-slack scheduling framework for mixed-criticality systems with arbitrary task activation patterns. In particular, based on the schedulability test of arbitrary task activation model, we present a tight slack-reclaim scheme that ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Fault-Tolerant and Real-Time Scheduling for Mixed-Criticality Systems

open access: yes, 2014
The design and analysis of real-time scheduling algorithms for safety-critical systems is a challenging problem due to the temporal dependencies among different design constraints.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
