Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Metric considerations concerning the mixed Littlewood Conjecture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The main goal of this note is to develop a metrical theory of Diophantine approximation within the framework of the de Mathan-Teulie Conjecture, also known as the `Mixed Littlewood Conjecture'. Let p be a prime.

Geometry of Gaussian quantum states

open access: yes, 2015
We study the Hilbert-Schmidt measure on the manifold of mixed Gaussian states in multi mode continuous variable quantum systems. An analytical expression for the Hilbert-Schmidt volume element is derived. Its corresponding probability measure can be used

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

On the classification of consistent boundary conditions for $ \mathit{f}(\mathit{R})$-Gravity

open access: yes, 2018
Using a completely covariant approach, we discuss the role of boundary conditions (BCs) and the corresponding Gibbons--Hawking--York (GHY) terms in $ \mathit{f}(\mathit{R}) $-gravity in arbitrary dimensions.

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Heat kernel estimates and their stabilities for symmetric jump processes with general mixed polynomial growths on metric measure spaces

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we consider a symmetric pure jump Markov process $X$ on a general metric measure space that satisfies volume doubling conditions. We study estimates of the transition density $p(t,x,y)$ of $X$ and their stabilities when the jumping kernel ...

Holographic Subregion Complexity for Singular Surfaces

open access: yes, 2017
Recently holographic prescriptions are proposed to compute quantum complexity of a given state in the boundary theory. A specific proposal known as `holographic subregion complexity' is supposed to calculate the the complexity of a reduced density matrix

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox
