Model Selection in Linear Mixed Models
Linear mixed effects models are highly flexible in handling a broad range of data types and are therefore widely used in applications. A key part in the analysis of data is model selection, which often aims to choose a parsimonious model with other desirable properties from a possibly very large set of candidate statistical models.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Mixed Taper Equations for African Mahogany Plantations ( Khaya grandifoliola C. DC.) Near Thinning and Clear-cut Ages [PDF]
The present study aimed to develop taper equations for African mahogany trees in two important ages (near to thinning and near to clear-cut ages), using, respectively, 100 seven-year-old trees were scaled in Minas Gerais and 46 fourteen- and fifteen-year-

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Stochastic Differential Mixed-Effects Models
Continuous processes \(X_t^i\) are observed for \(M\) different experimental units \(i=1,\dots,M\) at discrete time points. The stochastic differential mixed effect model (SDMEM) assumes that \[ dX_t^i=\mu(X_t^i,\vartheta,b^i)dt+\sigma(X_t^i,\vartheta,b^i)dw_t^i, \] where \(w_t^i\) are standard Brownian motions, \(\mu\) and \(\sigma\) are known drift ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
