This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Chiral mixed phase in disordered 3d Heisenberg models
Using Monte Carlo simulations, we compute the spin stiffness of a site-random 3d Heisenberg model with competing ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions.

CONCRETE MIX TRANSPORTATION MODELLING
The paper presents the simulation model of concrete mix transportation process in the system—batching centre—a number of construction sites. An essential part of the analysed model is a multi-phase system of queues which emerge in concrete transportation characterised by: waiting time for loading, waiting for discharge, the distances from the plant

Wavelet-based Functional Mixed Models [PDF]
SummaryIncreasingly, scientific studies yield functional data, in which the ideal units of observation are curves and the observed data consist of sets of curves that are sampled on a fine grid. We present new methodology that generalizes the linear mixed model to the functional mixed model framework, with model fitting done by using a Bayesian wavelet-

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

The Mixed Assessor Model and the multiplicative mixed model [PDF]
Abstract A novel possibility for easy and open source based analysis of sensory profile data by a formal multiplicative mixed model (mumm) with fixed product effects and random assessor effects is presented by means of the generic statistical R-package mumm.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Using lexical variables to predict picture-naming errors in jargon aphasia
Introduction Individuals with jargon aphasia produce fluent output which often comprises high proportions of non-word errors (e.g., maf for dog). Research has been devoted to identifying the underlying mechanisms behind such output.

Genetic parameters, adaptability and stability to selection of yellow passion fruit hybrids [PDF]
The objective of this study was to evaluate the stability and adaptability, using the method of harmonic means of the relative performance of genetic values and to estimate the genetic components of variance and average via mixed models of 14 genotypes ...

Modelling tribimaximal neutrino mixing [PDF]
We model tri-bimaximal lepton mixing from first principles in a way that avoids the problem of the vacuum alignment characteristic of such models. This is achieved by using a softly broken A4 symmetry realized with an isotriplet fermion, also triplet under A4. No scalar A4-triplet is introduced.
