Mixture Models and Convergence Clubs [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we argue that modeling the cross-country distribution of per capita income as a mixture distribution provides a natural framework for the detection of convergence clubs.

Prediction with mixture models.

open access: yes, 2014

The Standardized Spectroscopic Mixture Model

open access: yesRemote Sensing
The standardized spectral mixture model combines the specificity of a physically based representation of a spectrally mixed pixel with the generality and portability of a spectral index. Earlier studies have used spectrally and geographically diverse collections of broadband and spectroscopic imagery to show that the reflectance of the majority of ice ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

The D-optimal design of blocked and split-plot experiments with mixture components. [PDF]

open access: yes
So far, the optimal design of blocked and split-plot experiments involving mixture components has received scant attention. In this paper, an easy method to construct efficient blocked mixture experiments in the presence of fixed and/or random blocks is ...

Estimation of a 3D motion field from a multi-camera array using a multiresolution Gaussian mixture model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The problem of modelling geometry for video based rendering has been much studied in recent years, due to the growing interest in 'free viewpoint' video and similar applications.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

mixtools: An R Package for Analyzing Mixture Models

open access: yes
The mixtools package for R provides a set of functions for analyzing a variety of finite mixture models. These functions include both traditional methods, such as EM algorithms for univariate and multivariate normal mixtures, and newer methods that ...

A multi‐property assessment of intensity of use provides a functional understanding of animal movement

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution
The intensity of use of a location is one of the most studied properties of animal movement, yet movement analyses generally focus on the overall use of a location without much consideration of how patterns in intensity of use emerge.
