Assessing the Number of Components in Mixture Models: a Review. [PDF]
Despite the widespread application of finite mixture models, the decision of how many classes are required to adequately represent the data is, according to many authors, an important, but unsolved issue.

Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Asymmetric Multivariate Normal Mixture GARCH [PDF]
An asymmetric multivariate generalization of the recently proposed class of normal mixture GARCH models is developed. Issues of parametrization and estimation are discussed.

The Use of Mixture Models in Capture-Recapture [PDF]
Mixture models have been widely used to model heterogeneity. In this thesis, we focus on the use of mixture models in capture--recapture, for both closed populations and open populations. We provide both practical and theoretical investigations.

Bayesian mixture model estimation of aerosol particle size distributions
In this paper, we examine approaches to estimate a Bayesian mixture model at both single and multiple time points for a sample of actual and simulated aerosol particle size distribution (PSD) data. For estimation of a mixture model at a single time point,

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Imputation of genetic composition for missing pedigree data in Serrasalmidae using morphometric data
This study aimed to impute the genetic makeup of individual fishes of Serrasalmidae family on the basis of body weight and morphometric measurements. Eighty-three juveniles, belonging to the genetic groups Pacu, Pirapitinga, Tambaqui, Tambacu, Tambatinga,

Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Model-based approaches to synthesize microarray data: a unifying review using mixture SEM
A considerable amount of di®erent of approaches have been proposed for synthesizing gene expression data obtained from microarray experiments. In this paper, we have a closer look at various types of Gaussian mixture models which have recently been ...

Option pricing with asymmetric heteroskedastic normal mixture models [PDF]
This paper uses asymmetric heteroskedastic normal mixture models to fit return data and to price options. The models can be estimated straightforwardly by maximum likelihood, have high statistical fit when used on S&P 500 index return data, and allow for
