Composition of neurons, their structure and neuromediatory specialization in the Japanese scallop ganglia have been studied by means of morphological, morphometrical and histochemical methods. Three groups of neurons, differing in their histophysiological characteristics have been defined. Large neurons are cholinergic ones.
