Data‐driven thresholds for standardized classification of severe Alzheimer's disease neuropathology using digital neuropathology

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 36, Issue 6, November 2026.
We generated digital pathologic algorithms (AI‐based modules that can be freely shared) to: optimize the sampling (ROI) for diagnosis of ADNC‐related tau pathology; compare/transition between Aperio and HALO platforms; and rationalize severe Braak NFT staging, so that all Braak‐VI cases had dementia, and all Braak‐V cases had MCI or dementia.

Navigating the Challenges of Shared Decision‐Making in Amyloid Immunotherapy for Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Anti‐amyloid therapies (AATs), such as lecanemab and donanemab, represent a major therapeutic development for early Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, safety risks and uncertainties regarding long‐term effects make treatment decisions complex.

Clock Drawing Test Performance in Rural Vietnam: Reliability and Concurrent Validity Relative to the Mini‐Mental State Examination in a Community‐Based Sample

open access: yesGeriatrics &Gerontology International, Volume 26, Issue 11, November 2026.
In 1073 older adults in rural Khanh Hoa, Vietnam, the Clock Drawing Test showed modest discrimination for low cognitive performance defined as MMSE ≤ 23 (AUC 0.68). Although the negative predictive value was high (94%), its utility for cognitive screening remains uncertain.

Levodopa and Subthalamic Nucleus Deep Brain Stimulation Modulate Excitation/Inhibition Balance and the Neural Encoding of Isochronous Sequences in Persons With Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Volume 1565, Issue 1, November 2026.
In this study, we show that levodopa and deep brain stimulation (DBS) interventions differently modulate excitation/inhibition balance at the brain level and how individuals with Parkinson's disease process temporally regular auditory sequences, as typically provided in rhythmic auditory cueing protocols.
