DDR2 controls breast tumor stiffness and metastasis by regulating integrin mediated mechanotransduction in CAFs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Biomechanical changes in the tumor microenvironment influence tumor progression and metastases. Collagen content and fiber organization within the tumor stroma are major contributors to biomechanical changes (e., tumor stiffness) and correlated with ...

Joint single-cell DNA accessibility and protein epitope profiling reveals environmental regulation of epigenomic heterogeneity. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Here we introduce Protein-indexed Assay of Transposase Accessible Chromatin with sequencing (Pi-ATAC) that combines single-cell chromatin and proteomic profiling. In conjunction with DNA transposition, the levels of multiple cell surface or intracellular

Targeting hexokinase 2 to induce breast cancer cell senescence

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Hexokinase 2 (HK2) is a key enzyme linked to high tumour cell proliferation. Its inhibitors such as 3‐bromopyruvic acid (3‐BP) induce cancer cell death, highlighting HK2 modulation as potential anti‐cancer treatment. However, standard chemotherapies often cause the emergence of senescent cancer cells, which goes along with cell ...

MMTV accessory factor Naf affects cellular gene expression

open access: yesVirology, 2006
Mouse mammary tumour virus (MMTV) encodes a viral superantigen (Sag) and a negative acting factor (Naf) which share parts of their coding sequence. Using 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2D-DIGE), we could show that at least 10 different cellular proteins were differentially expressed in Naf positive cells.

Life after Cleavage: The Story of a β-Retroviral (MMTV) Signal Peptide—From Murine Lymphoma to Human Breast Cancer

open access: yesViruses, 2022
An increasing body of evidence in recent years supports an association of the betaretrovirus mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) with human breast cancer. This is an issue that still raises heated controversy.

Structural basis of genomic RNA (gRNA) dimerization and packaging determinants of mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV)

open access: yesRetrovirology, 2014
BackgroundOne of the hallmarks of retroviral life cycle is the efficient and specific packaging of two copies of retroviral gRNA in the form of a non-covalent RNA dimer by the assembling virions.

Kdf1 Regulates Molar Cusp Morphogenesis via the PI3K/AKT/mTOR Signalling Axis

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Epithelial Kdf1 knockout disrupts molar cusp morphogenesis by promoting inner enamel epithelium proliferation and invagination via PI3K/AKT/mTOR signalling. ABSTRACT Keratinocyte differentiation factor 1 (Kdf1) reportedly plays a significant role in enamel formation.

APC loss in breast cancer leads to doxorubicin resistance via STAT3 activation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Resistance to chemotherapy is one of the leading causes of death from breast cancer. We recently established that loss of Adenomatous Polyposis Coli (APC) in the Mouse Mammary Tumor Virus – Polyoma middle T (MMTV-PyMT) transgenic mouse model results in ...

Genetic and Molecular Determinants of Familial Transmission of Skeletal Malocclusions

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Families studies conducted in different ethnic populations worldwide have helped elucidate the molecular and genetic factors involved in the development of skeletal class III malocclusion. Therefore, the aim of this study is to provide an updated summary.
