Electrochemical Energy Storage Properties of Ni-Mn-Oxide Electrodes for Advance Asymmetric Supercapacitor Application [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this work, we report a facile one-spot synthesis process and the influence of compositional variation on the electrochemical performance of Ni-Mn-oxides (Ni:Mn = 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, and 1:4) for high-performance advanced energy storage applications.

Elimination of Mn3Ga with Low Crystal Symmetry in Alloying Mn-Ga by Ge Addition

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Materials in Engineering, 2016
In this paper, milling was investigated as a method for production of Mn-Ga binary alloys and the effect of milling process on phase formation of Mn:Ga samples with 2:1 and 3:1 ratio within 1, 2 and 5 hour milling times was studied.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Mn-including InAs quantum dots fabricated by Mn implantation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Mn-including InAs quantum dots (QDs) were fabricated by Mn-ion implantation and subsequent annealing. The optical, compositional, and structural properties of the treated samples were analyzed by photoluminescence (PL) and microscopy. Energy dispersive X-

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Probing Mn-Mn and Mn-Si bonding in silicon cages

open access: yes, 2022
This thesis explores the geometry and electronic structure of some manganese doped silicon clusters. Experimental characterisation of these clusters is severely limited. Theoretical investigations with density functional theory (DFT) yield conflicting results due to differences in the choice of functional.

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.
