Measuring the Quality of Interaction in Mobile Robotic Telepresence: A Pilot’s Perspective
International Journal of Social Robotics, 2012This article presents a method for measuring the quality of interaction in social mobile robotic telepresence. The methodology is in part based on Adam Kendon’s theory of F-formations. The theory is based on observations of how bodies naturally orient themselves during interaction between people in real life settings.

Estimating F-Formations for Mobile Robotic Telepresence
Proceedings of the Companion of the 2017 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction, 2017In this paper, we present a method for the automatic detection of F-formations for mobile robot telepresence (MRP). The method consists of two phases a) estimating face orientation in video frames and b) estimating the F-formation based on detected faces.

Mobile Robotic Telepresence Between Hospital and School: Lessons Learned
2020If a pupil falls seriously ill, it is not only a shock for the pupil himself or herself, but also for his or her family and classmates. The project "Virtual Classroom" of the Heilbronn University in cooperation with the foundation "Big Help for Little Heroes" therefore tries to maintain the daily school routine and thus the contact with friends as far ...

Fuzzy Tools for Telepresence with a Mobile Robot
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1995Abstract This work deals with telepresence missions with semi-legged robots. The system is dedicated to unreachable environments for human beings. Critical situations are supervised by an operator which decides actions to be done. The operator uses a dataglove to control the robot: two fingers control the legs and the arm yaw gives the orientation ...

Telepresence control of mobile robots - Kilauea Marsokhod experiment
34th Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 1996Mobile robots will be a key requirement for future exploration of Mars. Mobility will be required to achieve the goals of the Mars Surveyor program and will be critical for science operations on Mars during future human missions. We describe here a field experiment to simulate science operations of a planetary surface rover on Mars and on the Moon. The

Architectural proposal for a mobile telepresence robot, REGIMTEL
2014 6th International Conference of Soft Computing and Pattern Recognition (SoCPaR), 2014Recent advances in information and communication technologies offer wide variety methods of exchange over the network. The telepresence robot is an example of these techonol-gies. This paper presents our approach to build an intelligent telepresence robot called “REGIMTEL” by using commercialized Android tablet PC.
