Mobile Robot with Telepresence Control.
2022This paper focuses on developing a mobile robotic system capable of wireless movement and control. The robot can be controlled immersively via the virtual reality headset, or from any other device like a laptop or a mobile phone connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

A pilot user's prospective in mobile robotic telepresence system
Signal and Information Processing Association Annual Summit and Conference (APSIPA), 2014 Asia-Pacific, 2014In this work we present an interactive video conferencing system specifically designed for enhancing the experience of video teleconferencing for a pilot user. We have used an Embodied Telepresence System (ETS) which was previously designed to enhance the experience of video teleconferencing for the collaborators.

Geriatric Nursing, 2023
This review aimed to explore the experiences of mobile telepresence robots (MTRs) among older adults (OAs) using a systematic mixed-studies approach. Ten electronic databases were searched for published and unpublished studies from inception to January 2022. The mixed methods assessment tool was used to assess the quality of the studies.

Design Challenges and Guidelines for Social Interaction Using Mobile Telepresence Robots
Reviews of Human Factors and Ergonomics, 2013In this chapter, we address issues related to using mobile telepresence robotics for social interaction between people in different locations. We examine this problem space from three perspectives: (a) designing for the robot user, who is in a remote location; (b) designing for people near the robot, who are interacting with the user; and (c) designing

Understanding Attitudes of Adults Aging with Mobility Impairments toward Telepresence Robots
Proceedings of the Companion of the 2017 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction, 2017We explored the attitudes of older adults with mobility impairment towards using telepresence robots to understand their openness to adopting these technologies. Participants (n = 14) with self-reported mobility impairments completed questionnaires and an interview following demonstrative videos of two telepresence technologies (Kubi, Beam).

Telepresence feedback and input systems for a twin armed mobile robot
IEEE Robotics & Automation Magazine, 1996Complex tasks in unstructured/hazardous environments often require teleoperation. The telepresence robot featured here has "user friendly" limb linked output and feedback systems. The mechanism design and sensory feedback of visual, audio and multi-functional tactile (pressure, texture/slip and thermal parameters) are described.

Development of a Telepresence System Using a Robot Controlled by Mobile Devices
2021This study proposes a telepresence system controlled by mobile devices consisting of a conference side and a remote side. The conference side of this system consists of a puppet-type robot that enhances the co-telepresence. The remote side includes a web application that can be accessed by a mobile device that can operate the robot by using a motion ...
