Mobility Design

open access: yes, 2022
Climate change and the scarcity of resources, but also the steadily increasing amount of traffic, make it indispensable to develop new solutions for environmentally friendly and people-friendly mobility. With the expansion of digital information systems,

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Viscosity Measurements of Different Fluids Used for Mobility Control in Mature Reservoirs

open access: yesEurasian Chemico-Technological Journal, 2017
In the oil industry, it is important to increase the mobility of hydrocarbon fluids (oil and/or gas) and decrease the mobility of water. Doing so results in an increase in oil production and a decrease in unwanted water production.

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Interference Mitigation and Collision Avoidance of Dynamic UAVBSs Network via Mobility Control: A Game Theoretic Approach

open access: yesIEEE Access
Mobility control of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Base Stations (UAVBSs) can avoid collision and improve the power efficiency and coverage of the wireless network. In this work, UAVBS mobility control is formulated as an exact potential game.

Dynamic control of a mobile manipulator

open access: yesAMC'98 - Coimbra. 1998 5th International Workshop on Advanced Motion Control. Proceedings (Cat. No.98TH8354), 2002
Deals with the dynamic control of a mobile manipulator operating in busy environments such as hospitals. Major requirements within this application domain are safe, robust, and reliable task execution so that people can gain confidence in the robotic assistant.

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.

Stability Proxies for Water-in-Oil Emulsions and Implications in Aqueous-based Enhanced Oil Recovery

open access: yesEnergies, 2011
Several researchers have proposed that mobility control mechanisms can positively contribute to oil recovery in the case of emulsions generated in Enhanced-Oil Recovery (EOR) operations.
