A New Low Complexity Uniform Filter Bank Based on the Improved Coefficient Decimation Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we propose a new uniform filter bank (FB) based on the improved coefficient decimation method (ICDM). In the proposed FB’s design, the ICDM is used to obtain different multi-band frequency responses using a single lowpass prototype filter.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Modal properties of the flexural vibrating package of rods linked by spacer grids

open access: yesApplied and Computational Mechanics, 2011
The paper deals with the modelling and modal analysis of the large package of identical parallel rods linked by transverse springs (spacer grids) placed on several level spacings.

A decentralized linear quadratic control design method for flexible structures [PDF]

open access: yes
A decentralized suboptimal linear quadratic control design procedure which combines substructural synthesis, model reduction, decentralized control design, subcontroller synthesis, and controller reduction is proposed for the design of reduced-order ...

Synthesis of variable dancing styles based on a compact spatiotemporal representation of dance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Dance as a complex expressive form of motion is able to convey emotion, meaning and social idiosyncrasies that opens channels for non-verbal communication, and promotes rich cross-modal interactions with music and the environment.

HeMIS: Hetero-Modal Image Segmentation

open access: yes, 2016
We introduce a deep learning image segmentation framework that is extremely robust to missing imaging modalities. Instead of attempting to impute or synthesize missing data, the proposed approach learns, for each modality, an embedding of the input image

HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

Modal analysis of multistage gear systems coupled with gearbox vibrations [PDF]

open access: yes
An analytical procedure to simulate vibrations in gear transmission systems is presented. This procedure couples the dynamics of the rotor-bearing gear system with the vibration in the gear box structure. The model synthesis method is used in solving the

Rotor vibration caused by external excitation and rub [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
For turbomachinery with low natural frequencies, considerations have been recently required for rotor vibrations caused by external forces except unbalance one, such as foundation motion, seismic wave, rub and so forth.

Modal Synthesis Method for Poroelastic Fluid-Structure Coupled Problems Including Structural Damping

open access: yesVolume 1: 20th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, Parts A, B, and C, 2005
At low frequency, modal synthesis is usually used to solve the vibrational fluid-structure interaction problem. The modal technique application for elasto-poro-acoustic complex structures requires a modal description of the poroelastic vibroacoustic behaviour.
