Numerical Modal Analysis of Foams with Different Types and Configurations

open access: yesGazi Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi
Thanks to the perfect combination of mechanical properties like high strength and rigidity with functional properties like thermo-acoustic insulation and vibration damping, foam structures are becoming increasingly attractive in engineering applications.

Localization of free-spanning damage using mode shape curvature

open access: yes, 2011
This study proposes a damage indicator based on mode shape curvature to localize free-spanning damage of submarine pipeline systems. The feasibility of curvatures of low-frequency mode shapes for localizing free-spanning damage of pipeline systems is ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Mathematical Modeling and Finite Element Simulation of the M8514-P2 Composite Piezoelectric Transducer for Energy Harvesting

open access: yesSensors
This paper focuses on the mathematical and numerical modeling of a non-classical macro fiber composite (MFC) piezoelectric transducer, MFC-P2, integrated with an aluminum cantilever beam for energy harvesting applications.

Phonetic symbolism for size, shape, and motion [PDF]

open access: yes
This thesis examines phonetic symbolism, the meaningful use of individual speech sounds to convey and infer size, shape, and motion. Chapter 1 presents a summary of the literature. Though there is evidence suggesting that phonetic symbolism exists and

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Formal modelling of cognitive interpretation

open access: yes, 2007
We formally specify the interpretation stage in a dual state space human-computer interaction cycle. This is done by extending/reorganising our previous cognitive architecture.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

The influence of particle shape on bedload transport in coarse-bed river channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
This thesis investigates the influence of bed material shape on sediment transport in gravel-bed rivers. The approach involves a combined series of field and laboratory experiments.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
