Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Rumor Detection Model on Social Media Based on Bi-LSTM and Hierarchical Attention Mechanism

open access: yesHuman-Centric Intelligent Systems
The complexity of rumors on social media places higher demands on detection models for multimodal feature fusion and semantic understanding. This study proposes a hierarchical attention multimodal rumor detection model that integrates Bidirectional Long ...

FedHiGraphSAGE: A Hierarchical Graph Neural Network Model for Multi-Level Anomaly Detection in Federated Cloud Environments

open access: yesIEEE Access
Anomaly detection in cloud computing environments is increasingly challenging due to the complexity of distributed architectures, the heterogeneity of infrastructure components, and the high volume of monitoring data.

Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

The Complex Hierarchical Topology of EEG Functional Connectivity

open access: yes, 2017
Understanding the complex hierarchical topology of functional brain networks is a key aspect of functional connectivity research. Such topics are obscured by the widespread use of sparse binary network models which are fundamentally different to the ...

Verification of Succinct Hierarchical State Machines

open access: yes, 2007
A hierarchical state machine (HSM) is a finite state machine where a vertex can either expand to another hierarchical state machine (box) or be a basic vertex (node). Each node is labeled with atomic propositions.

A Bayesian hierarchical model for longtitudinal data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The paper investigates a Bayesian hierarchical model for the analysis of longitudinal data from a randomized controlled clinical tuberculosis trial. Data for each subject are observed on thirteen time point of occasions of the trial.

Insight into Genome-Wide Associations of Growth Trajectories Using a Hierarchical Non-Linear Mixed Model

open access: yesBiology
In applying a hierarchical mixed model to genome-wide association analysis (GWAS) of longitudinal data, dimensionality reduction through modeling repeated measurements improves both computational efficiency and statistical power. Legendre polynomials can

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.
