A technique for non-intrusive greedy piecewise-rational model reduction of frequency response problems over wide frequency bands

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics in Industry, 2022
In the field of model order reduction for frequency response problems, the minimal rational interpolation (MRI) method has been shown to be quite effective.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Application of multiphysics model order reduction to doppler/neutronic feedback

open access: yesEPJ Nuclear Sciences & Technologies, 2019
In this paper, a proper orthogonal decomposition based reduced-order model is presented for parametrized multiphysics computations. Our application physics is Doppler feedback in a simplified model of the molten salt fast reactor concept.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

A computationally effective time-restricted stability preserving H2-optimal model order reduction approach

open access: yesResults in Control and Optimization, 2023
Several approaches for reducing model order on the definite time segments have become the topic of investigation in a series of papers that bring challenges during application in a large-scale setting.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

D6.2 - Model Order Reduction Toolbox

open access: yes, 2022
This document reports about the Model Order Reduction, which we implemented in Task 6.2 and delivered as toolbox to the partners of the Upwards consortium. Partners use this toolbox for performing a rank reduction of models in the high dimensional data space of wind parks.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Advanced model order reduction for high-dimensional aerospace control systems

open access: yesFranklin Open
This paper presents the two-sided iterative algorithm (TSIA) and its frequency-limited extension for H2 optimal, a robust framework for model order reduction of a high-dimensional nonlinear aerospace model.
