MXenes as a Versatile Platform for High‐Energy‐Density Asymmetric Supercapacitors

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
MXenes with high conductivity and tunable surface chemistry are reviewed as advanced electrodes for asymmetric supercapacitors. MAX‐phase synthesis, surface and interlayer engineering, defect modulation, and composite designs are discussed, highlighting enhanced ion transport, pseudocapacitance, energy density, cycling stability, and sustainable routes

VLM-MPC: Vision Language Foundation Model (VLM)-Guided Model Predictive Controller (MPC) for Autonomous Driving

open access: yesCoRR
Motivated by the emergent reasoning capabilities of Vision Language Models (VLMs) and their potential to improve the comprehensibility of autonomous driving systems, this paper introduces a closed-loop autonomous driving controller called VLM-MPC, which combines the Model Predictive Controller (MPC) with VLM to evaluate how model-based control could ...

Extremum Seeking-based Iterative Learning Model Predictive Control (ESILC-MPC)

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine, 2016
In this paper, we study a tracking control problem for linear time-invariant systems, with model parametric uncertainties, under input and states constraints. We apply the idea of modular design introduced in Benosman et al. 2014, to solve this problem in the model predictive control (MPC) framework.

Performance comparison of pressure swing adsorption and amine‐based absorption for synthesis gas purification

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Comparison of PSA and amine‐based absorption for syngas purification shows that PSA offers lower energy intensity, global warming potential, and minimum selling price, making it a more sustainable option. However, absorption achieves higher syngas purity. A GREENSCOPE‐based multi‐criteria assessment guides optimal process selection.

Application of dynamic modelling and model‐based predictive control to enhance a cooling tower

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Model predictive control (MPC) applied to improve the operation of cooling towers. Abstract Model predictive control (MPC) differs from traditional feedback control by making predictions within a time horizon, providing better control actions for the process.

Repurposing Drugs for Malaria through a Human Dose Prediction: A Case Study with Berzosertib

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Repurposing drugs whose clinical safety has been established offers a valuable approach to reduce the cost and time associated with the development of new drugs for malaria. Here, we investigate the potential to repurpose the anticancer kinase inhibitor berzosertib for the treatment of malaria, by assessing whether a predicted efficacious human dose ...
