Enhanced Subspace Dynamic Mode Decomposition for Operational Modal Analysis of Aerospace Structures

open access: yesAerospace
To address the issue of low accuracy in the dynamic modal decomposition (DMD) method used for operational modal analysis (OMA) under noise conditions of aerospace structures, an enhanced identification approach is proposed in this paper, which integrates

Models of Reduction

open access: yesPrincipia: an international journal of epistemology, 2009
. In this paper, I examine three models of reduction. The first, and the most restrictive, is the model developed by Ernest Nagel as part of the logical empiricist program. The second, articulated by Jerry Fodor, is significantly broader, but it seems unable to make sense of a salient feature of scientific practice.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

A Hybrid Model Reduction Method for Dual-Continuum Model with Random Inputs

open access: yesComputation
In this paper, a hybrid model reduction method for solving flows in fractured media is proposed. The approach integrates the Generalized Multiscale Finite Element Method (GMsFEM) with a novel variable-separation (VS) technique.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Formal Model Reduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Modelers of molecular signaling networks must cope with the combinatorial explosion of protein states generated by post-translational modifications and complex formations. Rule-based models provide a powerful alternative to approaches that require an explicit enumeration of all possible molecular species of a system [1,2]. Such models consist of formal

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Stability-Preserving Model Reduction and Interpolation for Vibration Optimization in Beam-like Structures

open access: yesApplied Sciences
High-fidelity finite element models offer precise vibration analysis. However, their use in iterative optimization is computationally demanding. To overcome this, a stability-preserving framework for parametric model reduction and interpolation is ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
