Distributed optimal control of a nonstandard system of phase field equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate a distributed optimal control problem for a phase field model of Cahn-Hilliard type. The model describes two-species phase segregation on an atomic lattice under the presence of diffusion; it has been recently introduced by the same ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Allocative control Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model to evaluate inventory control systems when there is a relationship among variables

open access: yesGEPROS: Gestão da Produção, Operações e Sistemas, 2018
The purpose of this paper is to present an allocative control Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model to measure the efficiency of systems with variables that have a relationship to each other, such as inventory control systems.

Application of dynamical systems theory to the high angle of attack dynamics of the F-14 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Dynamical systems theory has been used to study the nonlinear dynamics of the F-14. An eight degree of freedom model that does not include the control system present in operational F-14's has been analyzed.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

The role of fuzzy logic in modeling, identification and control [PDF]

open access: yesModeling, Identification and Control, 1994
In the nearly four decades which have passed since the launching of the Sputnik, great progress has been achieved in our understanding of how to model, identify and control complex systems.

Human Control Model Estimation in Physical Human–Machine Interaction: A Survey

open access: yesSensors, 2022
The study of human–machine interaction as a unique control system was one of the first research interests in the engineering field, with almost a century having passed since the first works appeared in this area.
