"So go downtown": simulating pedestrian movement in town centres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Pedestrian movement models have been developed since the 1970s. A review of the literature shows that such models have been developed to explain and predict macro, meso, and micro movement patterns.

Simulation Typology and Termination Risks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The goal of the article is to explore what is the most probable type of simulation in which humanity lives (if any) and how this affects simulation termination risks. We firstly explore the question of what kind of simulation in which humanity is most likely located based on pure theoretical reasoning. We suggest a new patch to the classical simulation

Large-scale Reservoir Simulations on IBM Blue Gene/Q [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
This paper presents our work on simulation of large-scale reservoir models on IBM Blue Gene/Q and studying the scalability of our parallel reservoir simulators. An in-house black oil simulator has been implemented. It uses MPI for communication and is capable of simulating reservoir models with hundreds of millions of grid cells.

From Large to Small Scales: Global Models of the ISM

open access: yes, 2003
We review large scale modelling of the ISM with emphasis on the importance to include the disk-halo-disk duty cycle and to use a dynamical refinement of the grid (in regions where steep variations of density and pressure occur) for a realistic modelling ...

GenAI for Simulation Model in Model-Based Systems Engineering [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Generative AI (GenAI) has demonstrated remarkable capabilities in code generation, and its integration into complex product modeling and simulation code generation can significantly enhance the efficiency of the system design phase in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

A Simulation Model for Evaluating Distributed Systems Dependability [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
In this paper we present a new simulation model designed to evaluate the dependability in distributed systems. This model extends the MONARC simulation model with new capabilities for capturing reliability, safety, availability, security, and maintainability requirements.
