Avoidance learning: a review of theoretical models and recent developments
Avoidance is a key characteristic of adaptive and maladaptive fear. Here, we review past and contemporary theories of avoidance learning. Based on the theories, experimental findings and clinical observations reviewed, we distill key principles of how ...

Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) occupy an abundant fraction of the eukaryotic transcriptome and an emerging area in cancer research. Regulation by lncRNAs is based on their subcellular localization in HNSCC. This cartoon shows the various functions of lncRNAs in HNSCC discussed in this review.

Theoretical models in the Virtual Observatory [PDF]
Although full interoperativity between theoretical and observational data in the framework of the Virtual Observatory would be a very desirable achievement, the current status of VO offers few approaches to handle theoretical models. TSAP (Theoretical Spectra Access Protocol) has been proposed as a tool to fill this void, providing a simple scheme to ...

Stem cell‐based embryo models (SCBEMs) are valuable to study early developmental milestones. Matrigel, a basement membrane matrix, is a critical substrate used in various SCBEM protocols, but its role in driving stem cell lineage commitment is not clearly defined.

Performance analysis of control allocation using data‐driven integral quadratic constraints
Abstract A new method is presented for evaluating the performance of a nonlinear control allocation system within a linear control loop. To that end, a worst‐case gain analysis problem is formulated that can be readily solved by means of well‐established methods from robustness analysis using integral quadratic constraints (IQCs).

Influence of temperature on thermodynamics for binary mixtures of short aliphatic protic ionic liquids [PDF]
Two binary mixtures of protic ionic liquids comprising formate, acetate and propionate anions and 2-hydroxyethyl ammonium, bis(2-hydroxyethyl) ammonium and tris(2-hydroxyethyl) ammonium cations have been studied in terms of volumetric and acoustic ...

The axiom of choice and model-theoretic structures [PDF]
We discuss the connections between the failure of the axiom of choice in set theory, and certain model-theoretic structures with enough symmetry.
