Size-Dependent Thermoelastic Behavior Analysis of Functionally Graded Magneto-Electro-Elastic Cylindrical Shells Based on Modified Couple Stress Theory

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2023
In this article, the influence of important parameters on the size-dependent thermoelastic behavior of functionally graded magneto-electro-thermo-elastic microcylinders (FGMEE) is studied by means of modified stress couple theory and under the influence ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Theoretical analysis of effect of MHD, couple stress and slip velocity on squeeze film lubrication of rough Triangular plates

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids
In this study, Christensen's stochastic theory is utilized on rough surfaces' hydrodynamic lubricating effect to examine how surface roughness, couple stress fluid, slip velocity, magnetohydrodynamic (MHD), and the triangular surface interact.

Vibration Analysis of a Postbuckled Microscale FG Beam Based on Modified Couple Stress Theory

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2014
On the basis of modified couple stress theory, the postbuckling behavior of the Euler-Bernoulli microscale FG beams is investigated by means of an exact solution method.

Unifying Einstein and Palatini gravities

open access: yes, 2010
We consider a novel class of $f(\R)$ gravity theories where the connection is related to the conformally scaled metric $\hat g_{\mu\nu}=C(\R)g_{\mu\nu}$ with a scaling that depends on the scalar curvature $\R$ only.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Covariant-differential formulation of Lagrangian field theory

open access: yes, 2018
Building on the Utiyama principle we formulate an approach to Lagrangian field theory in which exterior covariant differentials of vector-valued forms replace partial derivatives, in the sense that they take up the role played by the latter in the usual ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

An Accurate Study on Capacitive Microphone with Circular Diaphragm Using a Higher Order Elasticity Theory

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Solids and Structures
This study has been undertaken to investigate the mechanical behavior of the capacitive microphone with clamped circular diaphragm using modified couple stress theory in comparison to the classical one.
