Ultrafiltration membranes modified by PSS deposition and plasma treatment for Cr(VI) removal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Ultrafiltration, UF, membranes positively-charged on a substrate of polyvinylidene fluoride, PVDF, have been modified by the deposition of a layer of poly(styrenesulfonate), PSS, which is negatively charged.

A Brain‐Penetrant Nanobody Reveals GSK3β‐Driven Proline‐Directed Phosphorylation as a Master Regulator of Ischemic Neurodegeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A brain‐targeted nanoparticle enables delivery of a therapeutic nanobody (Nb.29E9) that inhibits pathogenic GSK3β signaling. This intervention restores AMPK/mTORC1/TGFβ homeostasis, attenuates neuroinflammation and oxidative stress, and promotes long‐term functional recovery after ischemic stroke.

Multi‐Targeting Carnosic Acid Kills Drug‐Resistant Helicobacter pylori With Narrow‐Spectrum Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Carnosic acid selectively eradicates drug‐resistant Helicobacter pylori through a multi‐targeted mechanism involving urease inhibition, membrane disruption, and biofilm eradication. It exhibits no detectable resistance, potent in vivo efficacy, and minimal impact on gut microbiota, positioning it as a promising narrow‐spectrum lead compound against ...

Membrane Fusion‐Mediated Cytosolic Delivery of Threose Nucleic Acids via Homotypic Nanoparticles Overcomes Drug Resistance in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a biomimetic “nanofusion” platform that integrates the biostability of threose nucleic acids (TNA) with homotypic cell‐membrane cloaking to combat drug‐resistant TNBC. By leveraging a non‐canonical membrane‐fusion pathway for direct cytosolic delivery, the platform bypasses endosomal sequestration. To achieve potent AKT2 silencing

Human Urine Stem Cells Alleviate Pulmonary Fibrosis via Inhibiting Macrophage‐Myofibroblast Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Therapeutic role and mechanism of human urine stem cells (hUSCs) in pulmonary fibrosis. hUSCs alleviated pulmonary fibrosis by selectively inhibiting macrophage‐myofibroblast transition (MMT) in two ways: on one hand, hUSCs inhibited mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mtROS) production and apoptosis/senescence of epithelial cells in pulmonary ...

Further analysis of permeate flux for membrane ultrafiltration along a solid-rod tubular module

open access: yes, 2009
Predicting equations for the permeate flux of membrane ultrafiltration in a tubular module with a steel rod inserted concentrically were derived from momentum and mass balances with the application of the resistance-in-series model, coupled with the ...

Exponential model analysis of permeate flux for ultrafiltration in hollow-fiber modules by momentum balance

open access: yes, 2011
100學年度研究獎補助論文The modified correlation equation for predicting the permeate flux of membrane ultrafiltration (UF) in hollow-fiber modules was derived from the complete momentum balance coupled with the application of exponential model.
