Setting the scene for Betti characters
Finite group actions on free resolutions and modules arise naturally in many interesting examples. Understanding these actions amounts to describing the terms of a free resolution or the graded components of a module as group representations which, in ...

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Spin characters of the symmetric group which are proportional to linear characters in characteristic 2 [PDF]
For a finite group, it is interesting to determine when two ordinary irreducible representations have the same p-modular reduction; that is, when two rows of the decomposition matrix in characteristic p are equal, or equivalently when the corresponding p-

BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Categorification via blocks of modular representations II
Bernstein, Frenkel and Khovanov have constructed a categorification of tensor products of the standard representation of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ using singular blocks of category $\mathcal{O}$ for $\mathfrak{sl}_n$.

Automorphisms and twisted vertex operators [PDF]
This work is an examination of various aspects of twisted vertex operator representations of Kac-Moody algebras. It starts with an introduction to Kac-Moody algebras and string theories, including a discussion of the propagation of strings on orbifolds ...
