The neutron method for measuring soil moisture content - a review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
THE various methods of measuring the soil moisture content and its variations in space and time have been reviewed by many authors (Taylor, 1955; Marshall, 1959; Todd, 1960; Ballard and Gardner, 1965; Cope and Trickett, 1965).

Characterization of Clinical Phenotype to Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein Concentrations in Alexander Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the concentration of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma in Alexander disease (AxD) and whether GFAP levels are predictive of disease phenotypes. Methods CSF and plasma were collected (longitudinally when available) from AxD participants and non‐AxD controls.

Effect of the initial moisture content of the paddy drying operation for the small community

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Engineering, 2020
After the harvest, the paddy would contain high and unequal initial moisture content, depending on the season and harvest time. As a result, the dehydration was caused by using the dryer while feeding the paddy grain unequal moisture content, the dryer ...

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Adjustment of Coatings Morphology and Particle Distribution of Layered Silicates by Freeze‐Drying for Improved Gas Barriers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...

Effects of Storage-Induced Moisture Loss on Germination Performance and Oil Yield of Pongamia pinnata

open access: yesJurnal Sylva Lestari
Pongamia (Pongamia pinnata) is a non-food plant that has the potential to be developed as a biofuel because its seeds’ oil content is up to 40%. Therefore, it is necessary to study the characteristics of seeds for germination in relation to mass ...
