Molecular Cloning in the Streptococci
1982The genus Streptococcus contains a large number of species able to cause infection in humans and in animals. Our research efforts have revolved around the study of streptococci that normally reside in the human oral cavity. In this regard, Streptococcus mutans is thought to play an important role in the etiology of dental caries (tooth decay) in humans

Sarcolectin: Complete purification for molecular cloning
Biochimie, 1999A great variety of vertebrate cells contain detectable amounts of lectins, able to stimulate the initiation of cellular DNA synthesis. One of them, sarcolectin (SCL) can block interferon (IFN) action, by inhibiting the synthesis and the expression of the IFN dependent secondary proteins.

Molecular cloning of mouse thioredoxin reductases
Gene, 2000We screened clones for thioredoxin reductase genes with a degenerate PCR-based strategy and have isolated two novel cDNA clones from a mouse thymocyte cDNA library. These encode two distinct thioredoxin reductases (TrxR1 and TrxR2) with 499 and 527 amino acid (aa) residues and calculated molecular masses of 54.5 kDa and 56.8 kDa respectively.

Molecular cloning of Drosophila TFIID subunits
Nature, 1994Transcription initiation factor TFIID is a multisubunit complex containing a TATA-box-binding factor (TFIID tau/TBP) and associated polypeptide factors (TAFs) with sizes ranging from M(r) approximately 20,000 to > 200,000. As a result of direct promoter interactions, TFIID nucleates the assembly of RNA polymerase II and other initiation factors into a ...

Molecular Cloning of Lungfish Proopiomelanocortin cDNA
General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1999To investigate the evolution of proopiomelanocortin (POMC) from fish to tetrapods, nucleotide sequence of POMC cDNA from a lobe-finned fish, the African lungfish, was determined. POMC cDNA was prepared from lungfish pituitary glands. The POMC cDNA is composed of 1114 bp, excluding a poly-A tail, and encodes 255 amino acids (aa) including a signal ...

Molecular Cloning of AT1 Angiotensin Receptors
American Journal of Hypertension, 1992Angiotensin II is the principal effector molecule of the renin-angiotensin system. Its effects are mediated by cell surface proteins termed AT receptors. On the basis of radioligand binding studies, these have been pharmacologically subdivided into two classes, termed AT1 receptors and AT2 binding sites (Chiu AT, et al, Biochem Biophys Res Commun 1989 ...

Molecular cloning of lymphadenopathy-associated virus
Nature, 1984Lymphadenopathy-associated virus (LAV) is a human retrovirus first isolated from a homosexual patient with lymphadenopathy syndrome, frequently a prodrome or a benign form of acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Other LAV isolates have subsequently been recovered from patients with AIDS or pre-AIDS and all available data are consistent with the ...

Molecular Cloning of Bovine Amelogenin cDna
Advances in Dental Research, 1987Molecular cloning of a bovine amelogenin cDNA was accomplished by construction of a cDNA expression library (λgt11 cDNA library) from the bovine ameloblast mRNA and then screening of the library with antibodies to bovine amelogenins. The complete primary structure of an amelogenin was deduced from cloned cDNA.

Molecular Cloning of Protein-Based Polymers
Biomacromolecules, 2006Protein-based biopolymers have become a promising class of materials for both biomedical and pharmaceutical applications, as they have well-defined molecular weights, monomer compositions, as well as tunable chemical, biological, and mechanical properties.
