Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

All Optical Logic Gates: A Tutorial

open access: yesInternational Journal of Information and Communication Technology Research, 2012
In this paper we describe the performances of different kinds of all-optical logic gates reported up to now. We introduce all-optical logic gates based on semiconductor optical amplifiers such as ultrahigh speed logic gates exploiting four-wave mixing ...

Ionospheric composition measurement by EISCAT using a global fit procedure [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 1996
The aim of this paper is to show the gain of the global fit procedure compared to the classical gate-by-gate analysis in the simultaneous determination of the temperatures and composition profiles in the lower F region.

Nonlinear thermal control in an N-terminal junction

open access: yes, 2007
We demonstrate control over heat flow in an N-terminal molecular junction. Using simple model Hamiltonians we show that the heat current through two terminals can be tuned, switched, and amplified, by the temperature and coupling parameters of external ...

Gated single molecular device and logic gate design

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2017
The electron transport properties of an electrostatic gated single molecular transistor are investigated by using self‐consistent semi‐empirical method. The charge transport characteristics of the molecular device are analysed through the current‐voltage I SD −

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. A Reconfigurable, Dual-Output INHIBIT and IMPLICATION Molecular Logic Gate

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
Molecules that respond to input stimulations to produce detectable outputs can be exploited to mimic Boolean logic operators and reproduce basic arithmetic functions. We have designed a two-state fluorescent probe with tunable emission wavelength for the

Engineering calcium signaling of astrocytes for neural–molecular computing logic gates

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
This paper proposes the use of astrocytes to realize Boolean logic gates, through manipulation of the threshold of $$\hbox {Ca}^{2+}$$ Ca 2 + ion flows between the cells based on the input signals. Through wet-lab experiments that engineer the astrocytes

Driven quantum transport on the nanoscale

open access: yes, 2004
We explore the prospects to control by use of time-dependent fields quantum transport phenomena in nanoscale systems. In particular, we study for driven conductors the electron current and its noise properties.
