Kinetic resolution of racemates under chiral catalysis: connecting the dots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The current theory of the titled phenomenon is apparently based on an inconsistent use of concentration units, as employed in the derivation of the fundamental equations. Thus, manifestly, whilst the relation between extent of conversion and e.e.

Moles and Mole Control on British Farms, Amenities and Gardens after Strychnine Withdrawal

open access: yesAnimals, 2016
Moles are considered pests in Britain, but this issue has been little studied. Lower welfare standards have been tolerated for moles than for most other managed wild mammal species, as use of both the controversial poison, strychnine, and unregulated ...

Effect on Rheological Properties and 3D Printability of Biphasic Calcium Phosphate Microporous Particles in Hydrocolloid-Based Hydrogels

open access: yesGels, 2022
The production of patient-specific bone substitutes with an exact fit through 3D printing is emerging as an alternative to autologous bone grafting. To the success of tissue regeneration, the material characteristics such as porosity, stiffness, and ...

Redox‐dependent binding and conformational equilibria govern the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this work, we reveal how different enzyme binding configurations influence the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in live cells using time‐resolved anisotropy imaging and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). Mathematical modelling shows that the redox states of the NAD and NADP pools govern these configurations, shaping their fluorescence ...

Analysis of the Efficacy of 5-Fluorouracil in the Treatment of Invasive Moles

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Obstetrics & Gynecology
Background: To evaluate the chemotherapy toxicity of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in the treatment of invasive moles. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of therapeutic satisfaction, recurrence, and toxicity in 17 patients treated with 5-FU in the ...

AI-assisted mole detection for online dermatology triage in telemedicine settings

open access: yesInformatics in Medicine Unlocked, 2023
Skin moles are one of the most critical conditions for early diagnosis of severe conditions such as melanoma. Early identification of moles has become crucial nowadays, primarily due to malignant melanoma, a dangerous type of skin cancer.

Tetraploidy in hydatidiform moles [PDF]

open access: yesHuman Reproduction, 2013
How does tetraploidy develop in hydatidiform moles (HMs), and what is the frequency of the different origins? Most molar pregnancies with tetraploid cells appear to be produced by somatic endoreduplications, while a minority originate from a tetraploid zygote.

Functional role and folding properties of the glucan‐binding domain of oral bacterial glucansucrase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The role of the glucan‐binding domain in Streptococcus sobrinus glucansucrase was examined, focusing on its impact on enzymatic activity, dextran binding, and structural stability of deletion mutants and a circularly permuted protein. Our research revealed that glucosyl transfer efficiency is linked to cooperative interdomain folding.
