Spectral-Element Moment Tensor Inversions for Earthquakes in Southern California [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 2004
We have developed and implemented an automated moment tensor inversion procedure to determine source parameters for southern California earthquakes. The method is based upon spectral-element simulations of regional seismic wave propagation in an integrated 3D southern California velocity model.

Seismic moment tensor and focal mechanism for earthquake of February 22, 2024 in eastern Slovakia (12:54:15 UTC, 21.75E°E, 49.03°N, depth 9 km, ML3.0)

open access: yesГеофизический журнал
The accuracy of the focal mechanism solution can depend very significantly on the number of stations used, especially in the case of weak earthquakes and sparse networks.

Modeling of earthquake source parameters on December 12, 2018 (08:49:56,16; 36,4478° N; 140,5788° E; H = 62,0 km; Mw = 4,3, Japan)

open access: yesГеофизический журнал, 2021
Modeling of earthquake source parameters, such as the orientation of the fault plane and the direction of the fault slip, is important for understanding the physics of earthquake source processes, determining the stress-strain state of the geological ...

Moment tensor inversion of the 2016 southeast offshore Mie earthquake in the Tonankai region using a three-dimensional velocity structure model: effects of the accretionary prism and subducting oceanic plate

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2018
The southeast offshore Mie earthquake occurred on April 1, 2016 near the rupture area of the 1944 Tonankai earthquake, where seismicity around the interface of the Philippine Sea plate had been very low until this earthquake.

An analysis of a moderate earthquake, eastern flank of the Red Sea, Saudi Arabia

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2020
The present study presents the analysis of a moderate earthquake (Mw 4.0) and its largest aftershocks located along the Red Sea coast, southwestern Saudi Arabia, with the aim to understand the enigma of peculiar seismicity in the Arabian Shield.

High-rate GNSS data in seismic moment tensor inversion: application to anthropogenic earthquakes

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk, 2023
Earthquakes are traditionally monitored by seismic networks. However, the progress in high-rate Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) observations caused them to be included as a standard supplementary tool for strong natural earthquake monitoring ...

Focal Mechanisms of Mw 6.3 Aftershocks from Waveform Inversions, Phayao Fault Zone, Northern Thailand

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geophysics, 2017
The focal mechanisms of Mw 6.3 aftershocks, Chiang Rai Province, Northern Thailand, were determined by using a multistation waveform inversion. Three aftershocks were selected and their waveforms were inverted for moment tensor calculation.

Hybrid moment tensor inversion and numerical analysis of rock fracture

open access: yes矿业科学学报, 2019
Through indoor rock acoustic emission test, the study of the spatio-temporal evolution characteristics of acoustic emission signals under different fracture conditions has certain guiding significance for monitoring and early warning of rock engineering ...

Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...
