[Toxicity of sodium monensin for pigs].
Veterinarno-meditsinski nauki, 1982Studied were the acute and subchronic toxicity of monensin-Na in pigs. The investigations were carried out with elancoban-100, containing 10 per cent monensin-Na. A total of 46 pigs were used, weighing 15 to 60 kg. The preparation was applied individually via the nose or with the feed.

Effect of Monensin Sodium on Histological Lesions of Naturally Occurring Bovine Paratuberculosis
Journal of Comparative Pathology, 2000Of 19 adult cows naturally infected with paratuberculosis, 13 were treated with monensin sodium and six remained untreated. At the beginning of the study, the severity of the histological lesions was assessed from biopsy samples of ileum, liver, mesenteric lymph node and rectal mucosa.

Effect of monensin sodium on lactational performance of autumn- and spring-calving cows
Journal of Dairy Research, 2002Monensin sodium is widely used to manipulate ruminal fermentation (Bergen & Bates, 1984), with the aim of increasing energy supply to the animal. Monensin has been most widely used in diets of beef cattle and young growing dairy cattle, particularly in confinement management systems, where the ionophore can be mixed directly into the ration ...

Monensin-Sodium and Lasalocid-Sodium as Growth Promoters for Grazing Young Beef Bulls
1984The contribution to beef production in Belgium expressed in carcass weight amounted to 7.8% from steers, 34.0% from bulls, 34.1% from cows and 24.1% from heifers in 1982 (INS, 1983). Bull beef production is mostly practised in a semi-intensive system.

Prophylactic effect of monensin sodium against experimentally induced paratuberculosis in mice
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1992Summary Monensin sodium (0, 15, or 30 mg/kg of complete feed) was fed ad libitum for 1 week to female mice (strain C57BL6/J) that were genetically susceptible to infection with Mycobacterium paratuberculosis. Ten mice in each of the 3 groups were inoculated intraperitoneally with M paratuberculosis (109 organisms).

Sensitivity of the sodium efflux in barnacle muscle fibers to the microinjection of monensin
Life Sciences, 1974Abstract Sodium efflux in barnacle muscle fibers is stimulated by internal application of monensin. Pretreatment of fibers with ouabain leads to marked enhancement of the response of the Na efflux to monensin. This response though independent of the Ca 2+ gradient can be augmented by protonation of a bathing medium free of HCO 3 − .

Solution Conformation of the Antibiotic 3823A (Monensin A)‐Sodium Salt
Bulletin des Sociétés Chimiques Belges, 1977AbstractExtensive double irradiation experiments allowed the almost complete unraveling and extraction of the parameters in the 1H‐nmr spectrum of Na+‐Monensin (1). From this it is concluded that the solution conformation is in its details highly similar to the crystal state of the Ag+ salt.
