Mechanisms of Microbial VOC‐Mediated Communication in Plant Ecosystems and Agricultural Applications
ABSTRACT Microbial volatile organic compounds (mVOCs) are crucial to the ecological interactions of plants and microbes, playing pivotal roles in plant defence, communication, and growth promotion. The classification, biosynthesis, and emission processes of mVOCs, and their multifaced functions and activities within plant ecosystems have been ...

Microalgae have emerged as promising sustainable sources of bioactive compounds, essential for addressing global challenges. This study investigated the biochemical profiles of five microalgae species: Nannochloropsis sp., Tetraselmis chuii, Chaetoceros muelleri, Thalassiosira weissflogii, and Tisochrysis lutea. By using NMR spectroscopy, organic acids,

Spatio‐temporal dynamics of brown rot ( Monilinia fructigena ) on apple and pear [PDF]
Spatio‐temporal development of brown rot ( Monilinia fructigena ) on apple and pear was monitored in an apple (cv. Cox) orchard and a pear orchard of several cultivars over several years. Disease on individual trees was recorded weekly from July to harvest, individual fruits with brown rot ...

Purification and mechanistic properties of an extracellular α-
1. The alpha-L-arabinofuranosidase isoenzyme designated AFIII [Laborda, Archer, Fielding & Byrde (1974) J. Gen. Microbiol. 81, 151-163] was purified by sequential isoelectric focusing, hydrophobic chromatography, gel filtration and chromatofocusing. 2. The enzyme is a monomer of Mr 40,000. 3. On inactivation of the enzyme with 3H-labelled 1-alpha-L-

To extend the shelf life of apples in South Korea, we evaluated the effect of gamma irradiation alone or gamma irradiation combined with fumigation on the control of postharvest decay caused by Botrytis cinerea and Monilinia fructigena. An irradiation dose of 1.0 kGy caused the maximal inhibition of B. cinerea and M. fructigena spore germination.
