The presence of monoacylglycerol lipase was established in extracts of acetone-dried powders from rat and bovine brains using thioester substrate analogs. At pH 7.4, the apparent Km and Vmax values for 1-S-decanoyl-1-mercapto-2,3-propanediol were 56 microM and 227 nmol/h/mg protein in bovine gray matter.

Properties of monoacylglycerol lipase in rabbit aorta
Lipids, 1987AbstractMonoacylglycerol lipase activity was characterized in a soluble preparation from rabbit aorta (intima‐media) obtained by combining a 100,000×g supernatant fraction with activity solubilized from the 100,000×g precipitate fraction by treatment with Triton X‐100.

The relationship between fatty acid composition of oils and their oxidative stability in the presence of monoacylglycerols was investigated. Purified vegetable oils were added at increasing amounts (0.5, 1, 2, and 3%) of monoacylglycerols obtained from purified soybean oil and submitted to an oven test (60 °C for 18 days). The obtained results showed a

Monoacylglycerols as transmembrane Cl− anion transporters
Chemical Communications, 2012We report that the amphiphilic natural product, monoacylglycerol 1, functions as a transmembrane Cl(-)/NO(3)(-) anion transporter. The 1,2-diol group is crucial for the transport function since diacylglycerol and triacylglycerol analogs are not anion transporters.

Transacylase formation of bis(monoacylglycerol)phosphate
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular and Cell Biology of Lipids, 1999Recent work within our laboratory has focused on the enzymes we hypothesize are involved in the biosynthesis of bis(monoacylglycerol)phosphate from phosphatidylglycerol. Here we describe a transacylase, active at acidic pH values, isolated from a macrophage-like cell line, RAW 264.7.

Radioassay of the stereospecificity of 2-monoacylglycerol acyltransferase
Analytical Biochemistry, 1982Abstract The 2-monoacylglycerol acyltransferase (EC 2.3.1.22, acylglycerol palmitoyl transferase) catalyzes the synthesis of X -1,2-diacylglycerols from 2-monoacylglycerol and acyl CoA with an apparently variable stereochemical specificity. A microassay for determining the ratio of sn-1,2- and sn-2,3-diacylglycerols formed by the acylation of ...

Boronic Derivatization of Monoacylglycerol and Monitoring in Biofluids
Analytical Chemistry, 2019Monoacylglycerols (MAGs) are active mediators involved in multiple biological processes closely related to the pathological development of diabetes, obesity, and cancers. Sensitive and unambiguous detection of MAGs is thus essential; however, previous methods are both indirect and labor-intensive.

Monoacylglycerols Activate Capsaicin Receptor, TRPV1
Lipids, 2008AbstractTransient receptor potential vanilloid subtype 1 (TRPV1) is known as capsaicin (CAP) receptor and activated by CAP. Activation of TRPV1 by CAP increases energy expenditure and thermogenesis in rodents or human. Therefore, TRPV1 may be target for energy expenditure enhancement and thermogenesis.
