Monoacylglycerol lipase – a target for drug development? [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, 2012
The endocannabinoid (eCB) system is involved in processes as diverse as control of appetite, perception of pain and the limitation of cancer cell growth and invasion. The enzymes responsible for eCB breakdown are attractive pharmacological targets, and fatty acid amide hydrolase inhibitors, which potentiate the levels of the eCB anandamide, are now ...

Properties of monoacylglycerol lipase in rabbit aorta

Lipids, 1987
AbstractMonoacylglycerol lipase activity was characterized in a soluble preparation from rabbit aorta (intima‐media) obtained by combining a 100,000×g supernatant fraction with activity solubilized from the 100,000×g precipitate fraction by treatment with Triton X‐100.

Monoacylglycerol lipase

Neurochemical Pathology, 1984
The presence of monoacylglycerol lipase was established in extracts of acetone-dried powders from rat and bovine brains using thioester substrate analogs. At pH 7.4, the apparent Km and Vmax values for 1-S-decanoyl-1-mercapto-2,3-propanediol were 56 microM and 227 nmol/h/mg protein in bovine gray matter.

Monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) as a promising therapeutic target

Biochemical Pharmacology, 2018
Monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) has been characterized as the main enzyme responsible for the inactivation of the most abundant brain endocannabinoid, 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG). Besides this role, MAGL has progressively acquired a growing importance as an integrative metabolic hub that controls not only the in vivo levels of 2-AG but also of other ...

Lipoprotein lipase and monoacylglycerol lipase activities during maturation of ob17 preadipocytes

Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1981
Lipoprotein lipase and monoacylglycerol lipase activities of developing ob17 preadipocytes were assayed through the selective inhibition of the former activity by 0.4% Triton X-100. After confluence both enzymes rose tao a peak activity around 13--15 days which was enhanced in insulin-treated cells.

Triacylglycerol lipase, monoacylglycerol lipase and phospholipase activities of highly purified rat hepatic lipase

Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1982
Highly purified rat hepatic lipase (NaCl-resistant, alkaline pH optimum) was studied to evaluate whether the enzyme has triacylglycerol lipase, monoacylglycerol lipase and phospholipase activities. Enzyme exhibiting a single band by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and having a specific activity eight times greater than that in any previous ...
