Astrocytes in Genetic Epilepsies: Supporting Actor or Key Player?

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience Research, Volume 104, Issue 8, August 2026.
Astrocytes contribute to the pathophysiology of acquired epilepsy. Altered Functional Connectivity in the Reward Circuit in Betel Quid‐Dependent Chewers

open access: yesAddiction Biology, Volume 31, Issue 8, August 2026.
Resting‐state fMRI identified abnormal functional connectivity within the reward circuit in individuals with betel quid dependence, involving the ventral striatum, prefrontal cortex, posterior cingulate cortex and thalamus. Reduced connectivity between the thalamus and posterior cingulate cortex was related to dependence severity and BQ dosage.
