Monoclinic modification of bis(μ2-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylato)-κ4O2,N,O6:O6;κ4O2:O2,N,O6-bis[aquadibutyltin(IV)]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2011
The SnIV atom in the centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Sn2(C4H9)4(C7H3NO4)2(H2O)2], exists in a trans-C2SnNO4 pentagonal–bipyramidal geometry. There are two half-molecules in the asymmetric unit that are completed by inversion symmetry.

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Monoclinic modification of 1,1,3,3,5,5-hexamethyl-cyclo-1,3,5-tristannathiane

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2008
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Sn3(CH3)6S3], contains two molecules with twist-boat conformations. There are intermolecular S...H (2.929 Å), S...S (3.433 Å), S...C (3.465 Å) and C...H (2.898 Å ...

Self‐Cooling Molecular Spin Qudits

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A material made of [GdEr] molecular dimers can encode a qudit and perform as a magnetic refrigerant. Microwave resonant pulses coherently manipulate its 16 spin states, while direct demagnetization measurements cool the material and a device down to temperatures below 1 K.

Monoclinic polymorph of 3,7-dimethyl-1-(5-oxohexyl)-3,7-dihydro-1H-purine-2,6-dione

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2011
The structure of the title compound, pentoxifylline, C13H18N4O3, has been previously characterized as a triclinic polymorph [Pavelčík et al. (1989). Acta Cryst. C45, 836–837]. We have discovered the monoclinic form.

Low-temperature phase diagram of Fe1+yTe

open access: yes, 2013
We used low-temperature synchrotron x-ray diffraction to investigate the structural phase transitions of Fe1+yTe in the vicinity of a tricitical point in the phase diagram.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Magnetism and Low-Temperature Magnetocaloric Effect in Gd7(BO3)(PO4)2O6 Compound with Monoclinic Lattice

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The development of magnetic refrigerants with both low-field responsiveness and a large magnetic entropy change in the sub-Kelvin temperature range remains a critical challenge for advancing cryogenic technologies.
