Antimicrobial activity of Monodora myristica seed oil

Journal of Pharmaceutical and Allied Sciences, 2005
Oil was extracted from fresh pulverized seeds of Monodora myristica through steam distillation. The oil extracted was dried and some physical and chemical properties of the oil were determined. The antimicrobial activity of Monodora myristica seed oil was tested against Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis,

Biochemical Characteristics of the African Nutmeg, Monodora Myristica

International Journal of Tropical Agriculture and Food Systems, 2012
Proximate, mineral, phytochemical and antinutrients composition of African nutmeg (Monodora myristica) flour were determined using standard analytical techniques. The physicochemical characteristics of the oil were also investigated. The mean values of various parameters for proximate composition (%) were: moisture (13.15±2.73), total ash (3.90 ...

Comparative study of the essential oils of Monodora myristica from Nigeria

2012
Abstract The essential oils from seeds and stem-bark of monodora myristica (Annonaceae) growing wild in south western Nigeria and used as spice in many parts of Nigeria were extracted by hydrodistillation and analysed by GC- MS. The percentage yields of oils were 2.16%v/w and 0.25%v/w, respectively. The seeds essential oil contained germacrene D-4-ol

Volatile constituents of the essential oil of Monodora myristica (Gaertn) dunal

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1993
AbstractThe essential oil of Monodora myristica was obtained by steam distillation with a yield of 45‐6 g kg−1. The composition of the oil was analysed by gas chromatography and gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry. The oil was found to contain 75% monoterpene hydrocarbons; the major compounds being α‐phellandrene (50–4%), α‐pinene (5–5%) and myrcene ...

Proximate and Phytochemical Composition of some Monodora myristica Fruits Consumed in Nigerian States

Food and Agriculture Research Journal, 2022
The samples of Mondora myristica seeds sourced from three locations (Anambra State, Abia State and Imo State) were analyzed for their proximate composition and antinutrients constituents. The results revealed the presence of all food fractions (protein, fibre, moisture, ash, fat and carbohydrate) in these spices.
