This study investigated the effects of diets supplemented with levamisole on monogeneans on the gills of Colossoma macropomum. Fish were fed with diets containing levamisole at concentrations of 0, 300, 600, 900 and 1200 mg kg-1 for 24, 96 and 240 h and ...

Genomic data offer a powerful tool for studying the molecular interactions between parasites and their hosts, but they remain scarce for parasitic monogenean flatworms. This study presents the first high‐quality phased genome assembly for monogeneans (Gyrodactylus kobayashii), and uses it to predict key interacting proteins between monogenean parasite ‐

Gill monogenean communities on three commercially important sparid fish in Omani waters
The prevalence and intensity of polyopisthocotylean monogeneans on the gills of three commercially important species of sparid caught in Omani coastal waters close to the city port of Muscat were determined and compared. Throughout May 2012 to April 2013,

Workshop no. 4. Biology of monogeneans
The oncomiracidia larvae of monogeneans are small, ciliated, relatively slow-moving organisms with a limited free-swimming life. For example, the oncomiracidium of the skin parasiteEntobdello, soleaeis 250 µm in length, swims at a speed of 5 mm/sec and lives for about 24 h (Kearn, 1967a).

Fine structural observations on oocyte development in monogeneans
SummaryThe ultrastructural changes accompanying oocyte differentiation in the ovaries of the monogeneans, Diclidophora merlangi, Diplozoon paradoxum and Calicotyle kröyeri have been described. In each case, oogenesis in the ovary proceeds as far as meiotic prophase in the primary oocyte.

The survival of monogenean (platyhelminth) parasites on fish skin
SUMMARYThis review deals with the problems faced by those monogenean (platyhelminth) parasites that attach themselves to fish skin. The structure of the skin and the ways in which the posterior hook-bearing haptor achieves virtually permanent attachment to the skin are considered.
