Engineering Human Donor Derived Germinal Center‐Like Organoids (GCLOs) for Studying Immune Response to Vaccination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We bioengineered a new approach methodology of generating Germinal Center Organoids that self‐organize from human blood‐derived immune cells. These immune organoids reproduce key features of humoral immunity, IgG production, and plasmablast emergence.

Targeting the ATX‐LPA Axis Overcomes TKI Resistance and Immunosuppression in Renal Cell Carcinoma via Dual Inhibition of AKT/mTOR and TBK1/IRF3 Pathways

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic resistance limits durable survival in advanced/metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) treated with first‐line tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) plus immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI). We sought to define key resistance drivers and actionable targets.

The role of galectin-1 and galectin-3 in the mechanisms of T-cell immune response dysregulation in colon cancer

open access: yesБюллетень сибирской медицины, 2020
The aim of the study was to characterize the features of the subpopulation composition and cytokine-secretory activity of T lymphocytes (Th1, Th17 and Treg) in relation to the concentration of galectin-1 and galectin-3 in the blood of patients with colon

Porcine kidney xenotransplantation: From primate models to clinical reality

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
In the face of a critical shortage of human donor kidneys for end‐stage renal disease patients, porcine kidney xenotransplantation has emerged as a viable solution. This field has navigated major hurdles, including immune rejection, physiological incompatibilities, potential biomechanical differences and the risk of cross‐species infection. To overcome

Mononuclear Leukocyte Cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate Responses in Psoriasis Are Normal [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
It has been proposed that immune dysfunction in psoriasis is a consequence of aberrent cyclic nucleotide metabolism. We have examined cyclic AMP responses to isoprenaline, histamine, and prostaglandin E2 in peripheral blood mononuclear leukocytes from ...

Humanized immune system animal models and their recent applications

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
In this review, we provide an updated and comprehensive overview of the current state of humanized immune system animal model research. We discuss the variety of techniques used to produce humanized mice with their respective strengths and weaknesses, and evaluate the advantages and limitations of these models, including issues with incomplete immune ...

Parallel determination of glucocorticoid receptors in human mononuclear and polymorphonuclear leukocytes after Percoll separation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Circulating human leukocytes are known to possess glucocorticoid receptors, but the data in the literature on the affinity and capacity widely range. We here report our results on the determination of affinity and capacity of glucocorticoid receptors in ...

Antioxidant effects of anthocyanins-rich extract from black sticky rice on human erythrocytes and mononuclear leukocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The present study was aimed at determining the optimum dose of anthocyanins-rich extract (ARE) from Thai pigmented rice for its antioxidant effects. Three different methods of antioxidant analysis [Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) assay, Folin ...
