Promotion of Tumor Growth In Vivo by Antimacrophage Agents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Various attempts were made to assess the role of the mononuclear phagocyte system in tumor resistance of rats in vivo. The growth of sc inoculated, weakly immunogenic, carcinogen-induced, syngeneic tumor cells was modestly reduced by ip injection and ...

Peritoneal macrophage heterogeneity is associated with different peritoneal dialysis outcomes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Peritonitis remains the major obstacle for the maintenance of long-term peritoneal dialysis and dysregulated host peritoneal immune responses may compromise local anti-infectious defense, leading to treatment failure.

Photothermal–Immunomodulatory Hydrogel Reinforced by Ti3C2/ZnAl‐LDH Nanoplatform for Eradicating MRSA and Promoting Diabetic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A NETs‐inspired Ti3C2/LDH hydrogel integrates trapping, ROS boosting, and M2‐immunomodulation for MRSA‐infected wound repair. ABSTRACT MRSA infections give rise to chronic cutaneous and advance into profound tissue invasions, including osteomyelitis and sepsis—conditions for which existing clinical interventions offer only limited efficacy. The utility

Engineered Small Extracellular Vesicles Targeting Tumor‐Associated Endothelial Cells to Effectively Remodel the Glioma Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a novel drug delivery platform that overcomes the blood‐brain barrier in glioblastoma. By fusing IGFBP7 with small extracellular vesicles, the platform specifically targets tumor vasculature. It effectively delivers temozolomide, suppressing tumor growth at low doses.

The trans-sialidase from Trypanosoma cruzi induces thrombocytopenia during acute Chagas' disease by reducing the platelet sialic acid contents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Strong thrombocytopenia is observed during acute infection with Trypanosoma cruzi, the parasitic protozoan agent of American trypanosomiasis or Chagas' disease.

Biomimetic Membrane Interface Technologies for Detection and Isolation of CTCs and EVs: Advances and Opportunities in Liquid Biopsy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Biomimetic membrane interface engineering constructs functionalized detection platforms by integrating natural cell membranes, synthetic lipids, or hybrid membranes. This strategy effectively reduces background interference and enables efficient target capture and analysis, showing broad applications in circulating tumor cell separation, extracellular ...

Interferon-Regulatory Factors Determine Macrophage Phenotype Polarization

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2013
The mononuclear phagocyte system regulates tissue homeostasis as well as all phases of tissue injury and repair. To do so changing tissue environments alter the phenotype of tissue macrophages to assure their support for sustaining and amplifying their ...

Pharmacologic Considerations in the Disposition of Antibodies and Antibody-Drug Conjugates in Preclinical Models and in Patients

open access: yesAntibodies, 2019
The rapid advancement in the development of therapeutic proteins, including monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), has created a novel mechanism to selectively deliver highly potent cytotoxic agents in the treatment of cancer ...
