Tandem Duplication‐Driven Neofunctionalization of UDP‐Glycosyltransferases Shapes the Diversification of Triterpenoid Saponins in the Cucurbitaceae

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a chromosome‐level genome assembly of Siraitia grosvenorii and, through comparative genomics, uncover a conserved UGT73 tandem array driving triterpenoid saponin diversification in Cucurbitaceae. Crystalized SgUGT73AM30 further reveals the regioselectivity mechanism underlying its catalytic activity.

Characterization of Arabidopsis thaliana proteins containing an EXS domain on Pi transport and homeostasis

open access: yes, 2021
Phosphorus (P) is an important macronutrient for normal growth in plants. PHOl (PHOSPHATE 1), involved in phosphate (Pi) export from roots to shoots, contains at the N terminus a hydrophilic SPX (SYG1/Pho81/XPR1) domain required for binding inositol ...

Preparation and hypoglycemic mechanism of polysaccharide from Lonicera macranthoides

open access: yesFood Production, Processing and Nutrition
In order to explore the in vitro hypoglycemic effect of lonicerae flos polysaccharides and its mechanism of action, the crude lonicerae flos polysaccharide was prepared by hot water extraction and ethanol precipitation.

The Accessory Sec Protein Asp2 Modulates GlcNAc Deposition onto the Serine-Rich Repeat Glycoprotein GspB [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The accessory Sec system is a specialized transport system that exports serine-rich repeat (SRR) glycoproteins of Gram-positive bacteria. This system contains two homologues of the general secretory (Sec) pathway (SecA2 and SecY2) and several other ...

Sustainable Palm Oil Extraction and Trends in the Use of Green Technologies: State‐of‐the‐Art and Future Directions

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Palm oil, which is extracted from the mesocarp of the fruit of the Elaeis guineensis Jacq. palm tree, is the most widely produced vegetable oil in the world. The extraction of this substance typically utilizes the conventional pressing method, a technique that is advantageous due to its low operating cost and simplified process.

Additives Enhancing Biodegradability in Plastics and Potential Implications for Textiles: A Mechanistic Review

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Mechanistic insights from additive‐assisted plastic degradation guide the design of environmentally adaptive textile fibers. Functional additives enhance oxidative, hydrolytic, enzymatic, and microbial degradation pathways. Translating these strategies requires control of fiber architecture, additive distribution, and environmental interactions ...
