AbstractThis unit presents methods for assaying sialic acids, reducing sugars, and hexosamines. The BCA assay detects free reducing terminii in sugars released from glycoconjugates by appropriate treatments. Assays employing Ehrlich reagent (DMAB) detect hexosamines and N‐acetylhexosamines, including a method for hydrolyzing the glycosidic linkages of ...

TEMPORARY MONOSACCHARIDE INTOLERANCE
Acta Paediatrica, 1968SummaryAn infant presented at three months with intolerance of glucose, galactose and fructose. It was thought that this was possibly secondary to staphylococcal infection. Recovery of monosaccharide intolerance coincided with recovery from infection. The infant was treated with a sugar‐free diet which is described in detail.

Monosaccharides and monosaccharide derivatives in human seminal plasma
Journal of Chromatography B: Biomedical Sciences and Applications, 1978Gas chromatography--mass spectrometry with an on-line data system was used to identify monosaccharides and monosaccharide derivatives in human seminal plasma. The carbohydrates were converted into the methoxime-trimethylsilyl derivatives before separation in open tubular glass capillary columns coated with SE-30.
