Summary Background Dentigerous cysts are well‐known congenital defects in horses, and the literature on this condition is extensive. Recently, a third type of dentigerous cyst, associated with an exostosis arising from the temporal bone, has been described.

Discospondylitis as a consequence of jugular vein septic thrombophlebitis in a Standardbred gelding
Summary This report describes the identification of C7‐T1 discospondylitis on myelography and confirmed on postmortem computed tomography and necropsy in a 4‐year‐old Standardbred gelding as the consequence of jugular vein catheterisation and secondary septic thrombophlebitis. Staphylococcus aureus was isolated from both sites.

Surgical management of a perineal hernia in a 24‐year‐old mare
Summary A rare case of bilateral perineal hernia was reported in a 24‐year‐old Italian Trotter mare. The mare presented a history of chronic weight loss and bilateral perineal swelling. The right‐sided swelling displayed signs of being chronic, while the left side experienced a singular episode of acute perineal swelling, coinciding with signs of colic.
