Precise allele-specific genome editing by spatiotemporal control of CRISPR-Cas9 via pronuclear transplantation

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Injecting Cas9 and gRNA into an animal zygote often produces mosaicism and random biallelic targeting. Here, the authors use pronuclear transfer to reduce mosaicism and selectively target parental alleles.

PKD1 mosaicism associated with severe renal, hepatic, and vascular phenotype.

open access: yes, 2022
Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is mainly caused by mutations in or genes. Mosaicism is characterized by a post-zygotic mutation resulting in the presence of two or more populations of cells with different genotypes in an individual.

Impedance of Nonelectroneutral Solid Electrolyte Interphases With Nanopores: A Theoretical Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Physical modeling reveals that often‐neglected non‐electroneutrality and nanopores in the solid‐electrolyte interphase (SEI) govern the impedance behavior. Under nonreactive conditions, the low‐frequency constant‐phase element (CPE) phenomenon can be attributed to the nonelectroneutral local conditions in the SEI.

DMS‐MaPseq and DREEM Analyses Implicate the Critical Role of RNA Structural Dynamics in Turnip Yellow Mosaic Virus Pathogenicity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RNA structural profiling of Turnip Yellow Mosaic Virus by DMS‐MaPseq and DREEM analyses uncover that viral genome‐wide RSS is highly complicated and heterogeneous, with alternative RSSs widely distributed across the genome. Notably, the viral 3’ tRNA‐like structure adopts alternative conformations in vivo.

Realm of Revertant Mosaicism Expanding

open access: yes, 2012
In this issue, Lai-Cheong et al. report a patient with Kindler syndrome who showed revertant mosaicism: a patch of normal-looking skin attributable to a reverse mutation.

Hadamard Matrix Slicing Single‐Pixel Imaging: Establishing a Linear‐Array‐Inspired Paradigm for N‐fold Acceleration Single‐Pixel Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To overcome two‐dimensional modulation bottlenecks, Hadamard Matrix Slicing Single‐Pixel Imaging (HMS‐SPI) establishes an efficient one‐dimensional imaging paradigm. By slicing the traditional Hadamard matrix into one‐dimensional encoding vectors and spatially expanding them, the required measurement patterns decrease by a factor of N.

Placental mosaicism in the era of chromosomal microarrays

open access: yes, 2020
Objective: Placental mosaicism for a subset of a chromosome, a structural chromosomal aberration, is thought to be a very rare finding in chorionic villus samples.

Asymmetrically Fluorinated Phenyl 4‐biphenylcarboxylate Motifs as a Design Principle for Enantiotropic Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The effect of the structural arrangement of DIO and its analogs on ferroelectric phases is explored. Consequently, it is found that an asymmetrically fluorinated phenyl 4‐biphenylcaroboxylate skeleton is one of the favorable structural motifs for the emergence of enantiotropic ferroelectric liquid crystal phases.

Revertant mosaicism in the skin

open access: yes, 2013
Revertant mosaicism is a naturally occurring phenomenon involving the spontaneous correction of a pathogenic mutation in a somatic cell. Revertant mosaicism is not a rare event and has been described in several inherited skin conditions, including ...

KRT14 Drives Basal Muscle‐Invasive Bladder Cancer Progression and Lung Metastasis by Directly Binding to and Stabilizing IGF2BP1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identified a Krt14+ Igf2bp1+ bladder cancer population linked to EMT. Mechanistically, KRT14 stabilizes and transports IGF2BP1 to invasive protrusions, initiating a positive feedback loop that drives metastasis and poor outcomes. ABSTRACT Basal‐type muscle‐invasive bladder cancer (BMIBC) is characterized by aggressive metastasis and poor prognosis ...
