We investigate the effectiveness of the divide set produced by watershed algorithms. We introduce the mosaic to retrieve the altitude of points along the divide set. A desirable property is that, when two minima are separated by a crest in the original image, they are still separated by a crest of the same altitude in the mosaic. Our main result states

Eighteen new cases of colour mosaics are described. Previous reports of mosaics are collocated and briefly discussed. Various mechanisms are described which may engender three types of mosaicism. These are the (1) somatic, (2) the soma-gonadic and (3) the gonadic.

We present a method for creating a video mosaic, a two-dimensional arrangement of small source videos (tiles) that suggests a larger, unified target video. We develop a distance measure to assess the match between source and target based on average color and also three-dimensional wavelet decomposition signatures in the YIQ color space.
