Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation
FEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.Sandesh Neupane, Lea Nikolić, Lorenzo Maraio, Thomas Goiran, Nathan Karpilovsky, Stefano Sellitto, Vangelis Bouris, Jiang‐An Yin, Ronald Melki, Edward A Fon, Adriano Aguzzi, Elena De Cecco +11 morewiley +1 more sourceData-driven clustering of combined Functional Motor Disorders based on the Italian registry. Aging and Cancer, EarlyView.Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.Sherif Hamidu, Latif Adams, Eunice Ampem‐Danso, Justice Kumi, Abigail Aning, Fatima Hamidu, Mustapha Abdul Mumin Mohammed, Ayuba Nii Darku Ankrah, Seth Kwabena Amponsah +8 morewiley +1 more sourceTracking Motor Progression and Device‐Aided Therapy Eligibility in Parkinson's Disease
Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.ABSTRACT Objective
To characterise the progression of motor symptoms and identify eligibility for device‐aided therapies in Parkinson's disease, using both the 5‐2‐1 criteria and a refined clinical definition, while examining differences across genetic subgroups.David Ledingham, Sahana Sathyanarayana, Charlotte B. Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.ABSTRACT Objective
Rett syndrome (RTT) is a devastating neurodevelopmental disorder with developmental regression affecting motor, sensory, and cognitive functions. Sensory disruptions contribute to the complex behavioral and cognitive difficulties and represent an important target for therapeutic interventions.Alex Joseph Simon, Nathalie Picard, Valeria d'Andrea, Enchi Chang, Joseph Leffler, Eleonora Centofante, Matthew Taylor, Francesca Bardi, Francesca Cavicchiolo, Takao K. Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.ABSTRACT Background
Fatigue is among the most common symptoms and one of the main factors determining the quality of life in multiple sclerosis (MS). However, the neurobiological mechanisms underlying fatigue are not fully understood. Here we studied lesion locations and their connections in individuals with MS, aiming to identify brain networks ...Olli Likitalo, Jaakko Kungshamn, Albert Bellmunt‐Gil, Silvia Tommasin, Abhineet Ojha, Matias Viitala, Juho Aaltonen, Jyrki Lötjönen, Juha Koikkalainen, Pauli Ylikotila, Patrizia Pantano, Merja Soilu‐Hänninen, Juho Joutsa +12 morewiley +1 more source
